One of the nicest parts about running Goldies Store has been realising it’s become more than just a place to shop.
Over time, Goldies has slowly turned into a little community hub — full of familiar faces, quick chats at the counter, kids waving goodbye on the way out, and parents popping in “just for a look” before staying for half an hour.
And honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
There’s something really special about physical stores, especially now. In a world where so much happens online, we love being able to create a space that feels warm, welcoming and fun to wander through in real life.
Some people visit us every few weeks. Some came in once for a gift and now bring all their friends. Some kids have grown up coming into the shop and now proudly pick out their own outfits. We notice all of it.
We also love how supportive the Melbourne small business community can be. There’s such a nice feeling when local brands, creatives, cafés and stores all back each other. Small businesses genuinely survive because people choose to shop thoughtfully and locally — and that support never goes unnoticed.
A lot of Goldies has grown through word of mouth too. A friend telling a friend. Someone tagging us in a post. A customer bringing in their sister, cousin or neighbour next time they visit. It’s the kind of growth that feels really personal and meaningful.
We’ve always wanted Goldies to feel approachable. Not intimidating or overly polished. Just colourful, creative and easy to enjoy — whether you’re buying a newborn gift, shopping for your own little ones, or simply popping in for inspiration.
At the end of the day, the clothes and gifts are only part of it. What really makes Goldies special is the people around it.
So thank you for being part of our little corner of Melbourne. We’re very glad you’re here.
